About Us
Our story began in 2010 at Waynesfield-Goshen High School when students in my Civil War class seized the initiative to take their love of learning and fun further than the classroom.
Together we created the Civil War Brigade so students could extend their love of learning once the class was finished. In 2016 I began teaching at Hardin Northern High School in Dola, Ohio and I brought the newly named History Brigade with me to encourage living history at Hardin Northern. |
Over the years have presented to elementary classes and the community, hosted living history days on campus, visited living history reenactments, hosted school scavenger hunts, and explored historical sites throughout Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia.
Together we have raised over $5,000 for history preservation through organizations such as the Civil War Trust and and the Gettysburg Foundation. |
Our story has received national recognition from organizations such as the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History and the American Battlefield Trust (formerly the Civil War Trust) for Teaching Civics Through Preservation.
